Puppy Parent Program

Puppy Parents are crucial to the mission of our program. Puppy Parents take a puppy into their home and family for a period of 6 - 24 months. In some situations Puppy Parents are asked to transport the puppy to a training program with our Wounded Warriors.

We ask that our Puppy Parents attend classes weekly for the first 6-8 weeks and then monthly for the remainder of the time the puppy is in their care. Puppy Parents reinforce behaviors taught in class at home. We would like to have people take them to work, out shopping, etc to socialize our puppies and get them ready for their future work as service dogs.

Warrior Canine Connection provides:

-A crate

-All training equipment

-Starter supply of toys

-All vet care and medications

-preventative medications

-training support

-boarding if you travel somewhere you can’t take the puppy

We ask our volunteer Puppy Parents to provide:

-A loving temporary home for 6 – 24 months

-Their commitment of the time and care a puppy in training needs

-Food for the puppy (we provide direction in brand of food to purchase)
