Volunteer Coordinator (AmeriCorps)

Department: Development and Communications
Location: Boyds, Maryland
Reports to: External Relations Manager
Full-time: 40 hours per week

Warrior Canine Connection (WCC) is seeking a dynamic Volunteer Maryland (VM) AmeriCorps Member to join our Healing Quarters team located in Boyds, Maryland. This 11-month, full-time position will develop and expand volunteer programs that impact the lives of Veterans and Military Families.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with development and implementation of volunteer orientations, training and recognition programs
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment initiatives
  • Create program materials, evaluate program results and submit regular reports
  • Develop community partnerships to support the volunteer program
  • Serve as a public ambassador for WCC, VM and AmeriCorps
  • Attend staff meetings as required

Required Experience, Skills, Background:

  • Experience managing volunteer teams in nonprofit organizations
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently and as a member of a team; ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at once with strict deadlines
  • Must demonstrate ability to communicate at a professional level
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, specifically Salesforce, and electronic file sharing applications such as Office 365
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with different types of personalities in a team environment
  • Familiarity with the military community preferred


Full-time VM AmeriCorps Members serving as Volunteer Coordinators receive a living allowance of $15,015, a post-service educational benefit of $5,920, and health insurance if they are not already covered. They may also qualify for a child care allowance.
