For Military Veterans and Military Family Members: One-Year Paid Internships with Warrior Canine Connection.
Thanks to generous support from the Schultz Family Foundation, Warrior Canine Connection is pleased to announce an exciting employment opportunity. WCC will offer a one-year paid Internship for Veterans and Military Family Members. The goal of the Internship is for all participants to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to work as Mobility Service Dog Trainers with proficiency in WCC’s Mission Based Trauma Recovery model. WCC seeks to employ at least 50% of the graduates from this internship to assist in expanding our locations as outlined in the Strategic Plan.
Requirements:
Applicants must be Military Veterans or Military Family Members. There are no specific educational requirements, but relevant dog training experience will be considered. A positive attitude and the ability to get along well with dogs and humans is a must. We are looking for people who show initiative, adaptability and passion for our mission. Applicants must be able to manage a Service Dog In Training that may weigh up to 80lbs without concern for personal injury. This internship is expected to be a full time learning opportunity, requiring applicants to be able to work 40-50 hours a week on a regular basis. Primary work location for this Internship is the WCC Healing Quarters in Boyds, MD.
Compensation:
Annual Salary of $30,000/year
Housing Allowance of $1,000 per month. Limited housing near WCC’s Headquarters is available for interested applicants.
